Embedded Software Engineer Safety-Critical UAV Platforms (m/w/d) – AIRBUS

For more than 25 years, HESYS Engineering has connected technical specialists with demanding assignments for customers in aerospace, defence and high-tech. For our customer AIRBUS, we are looking for a suitable candidate.

In this position, you will develop safety-critical embedded software for next-generation Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. You will shape software architectures, real-time computing platforms and digitalized infrastructures from the initial concept through to final certification.

Your tasks

• Architect, implement, integrate and test safety-critical platform software using C within an agile team
• Drive low-level software development, including microprocessor bring-up, Board Support Package adaptation and hardware-software integration
• Configure, develop and optimize Real-Time Operating Systems, e.g. ARINC 653, while ensuring strict time and space partitioning in multi-core environments
• Author key lifecycle artifacts, including PSAC, SDP and SVP, and maintain 100% bidirectional requirements traceability
• Define and execute end-to-end operational test scenarios using physical Multisystem Integration Test RIGs

Your profile

• Master’s or Diplom degree in computer science, aerospace engineering or a similar field of study
• At least three years of professional experience in embedded software development are required
• Proven expertise in safety-critical standards, e.g. DO-178C, Real-Time Operating Systems, e.g. ARINC 653, and Integrated Modular Avionics, e.g. DO-297, is mandatory
• Deep knowledge of low-level development, certification processes and relevant tools, such as Lauterbach Trace, Rulechecker, DOORS and Python, must be demonstrated
• Knowledge of Virtual Engineering concepts, SCADE or automated model-based code generation tools as well as experience with agile frameworks and tools such as Jira and Confluence is a plus
• Negotiation-level English skills are required; German language skills are nice to have
• You are a team player with a reliable, careful and goal-oriented working style, very strong analytical thinking, high quality awareness and a structured approach to document-heavy workflows
