Mechanical Engineer Helicopter Maintenance Design & GSE (m/w/d) – AIRBUS

For more than 25 years, HESYS Engineering has connected technical specialists with demanding assignments for customers in aerospace, defence and high-tech. For our customer AIRBUS, we are looking for a suitable candidate.

You will work on helicopter maintenance design, developing, defining, and qualifying Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and ground handling procedures. Your responsibilities will include supporting helicopter development phases, coordinating technical topics, and validating equipment and procedures for reliable operation and reduced operator error risk.

Your tasks

• Prepare for and participate in helicopter Development Gates, manage multiple technical topics in parallel, and implement technical specifications
• Ensure technical documentation is complete and coordinate its contents with all stakeholders
• Develop, define, and qualify GSE through tests on helicopters or test benches, including the simulation of maintenance tasks
• Develop, define, and qualify ground handling procedures, for example by participating in and qualifying helicopter loading and unloading operations into and out of an aircraft
• Manage subcontractors and suppliers, comply with budget, schedule, and scope requirements, and deliver the corresponding work results
• Support Lessons Learned exchanges by documenting findings in the technical reference system
• Validate equipment and procedures to minimize operator error risk and ensure correct GSE operation, including through methods such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and 3D-printed models
• Assess work equipment against the Product Safety Act and the Machinery Directive (CE)
• Maintain direct contact with suppliers and end-customer representatives and collaborate closely with teams within and outside development management, including Support & Services, flight testing, prototype construction, and production

Your profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or aerospace engineering, or a degree in mechanical engineering specializing in aeronautical engineering
• More than three years of professional experience in engineering, more than one year in development, and more than two years in project management
• Detailed specialist knowledge of CATIA V5
• Basic knowledge of stress calculation
• Knowledge of helicopter systems is advantageous; knowledge of ergonomics is desirable
• Negotiation-level English; German language skills are advantageous
• Independent and organized working approach, a strong sense of responsibility, very good communication skills, and a hands-on mentality
