As an Electrical Engineer for novel propulsion design and testing, you will contribute to the development and verification of hybrid and electric propulsion systems (HEPS). The role combines electrical system architecture and design with the development, commissioning and operation of complex test means for advanced propulsion technologies.
Your tasks
- Conduct pre-sizing and architectural development of hybrid and electric propulsion components such as eMotors, batteries and power electronics in accordance with current technology standards
- Perform trade-off analyses of different concepts regarding system weight, performance and overall integration efficiency
- Manage and harmonize subsystem interfaces, including electrical networks and Low Voltage and High Voltage harness routing, and define specific electrical system needs
- Engage with suppliers to evaluate technical solutions and ensure alignment with project objectives and standardized integration requirements
- Define V&V objectives and high-level requirements for designed components and integrated systems and ensure alignment with the design office on test requests
- Develop and detail test benches, including electrical cabinets and power electronics support systems, and perform installation and commissioning of the test bench and System Under Test (SUT)
- Define detailed test procedures, execute validation and verification activities, operate test benches and equipment and ensure continuous safe operation
- Troubleshoot technical incidents on test bench and SUT level, including real-time computing, data acquisition, aircraft data buses, test automation and signal conditioning
- Process and analyze test data, assess system behaviour against requirements and deliver final test reports; establish and routinely perform data analytics activities for engineering and design office customers
- Continuously improve test mean operational reliability and perform or organize required maintenance activities
Your profile
- Master's degree/Diplom in electrical engineering or a comparable qualification
- More than five years of professional experience as a Design Engineer, more than five years in electrical engineering and more than five years in development
- Experience in electrical systems design, e.g. eMotors, power electronics, batteries and LV/HV networks, is required
- Experience in systems testing is necessary; experience in the development and operation of test means is mandatory, and experience in V&V processes and test management is required
- Knowledge of integrated measurement systems and PLC integration, e.g. AIDASS including real-time systems, PLCs and test automation, is required
- Knowledge of MATLAB, FlexPro, Google Workspace, Python or similar tools is required; English at least at negotiation level is required
- Creative, solution-oriented and pragmatic working style, effective stakeholder and interface management, strong teamwork in a diverse environment and mentoring capabilities, as well as willingness to travel
