We are looking for an EMC System and Equipment Engineer to ensure the electromagnetic compatibility of complex aerospace systems and equipment throughout their lifecycle. The role covers requirements definition, analysis, testing and technical guidance for design teams.

Your tasks

  • Perform engineering activities concerning electromagnetic effects on military manned and unmanned aircraft at system and equipment level, considering EMC and EMI
  • Define, analyze and verify EMC requirements at system and equipment level for aircraft and ground systems
  • Perform EMC analyses, including shielding effectiveness, grounding schemes, cable routing and EMI/EMC coupling mechanisms
  • Provide design teams with technical expertise and guidance on EMC best practices and design according to EMC principles
  • Discuss detailed test requirements and validate the associated test plans
  • Actively participate in EMC qualification testing, including conducted and radiated emissions as well as conducted and radiated susceptibility in accredited facilities, covering test setup, execution and equipment data analysis
  • Monitor suppliers’ EMC-related activities and evaluate supplier and test-house reports
  • Evaluate modifications at equipment and aircraft level regarding EMC and EMI, including bonding
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation, including test reports, analysis reports and compliance matrices
  • Participate in design reviews, provide input on EMC and EMI aspects and support clearance activities
  • Support the definition, performance and evaluation of EMC and EMI test campaigns at aircraft system level
  • Troubleshoot and resolve EMC and EMI issues identified during design, development and testing
  • Keep up to date with the latest EMC and EMI technologies, standards and methodologies

Your profile

  • Completed Master’s degree or Diplom in physics or electrical engineering, or a completed degree in communications engineering, high-frequency engineering or an equivalent discipline
  • At least 2.5 years of proven professional experience in EMC engineering is required, preferably in the aerospace or defence industry
  • Strong understanding of EMC principles, theories and standards, e.g. MIL-STD-461 and DO-160, is mandatory
  • Hands-on experience with EMC testing equipment and facilities is required
  • Proficiency in EM simulation tools, e.g. FEKO, CST Studio Suite or ANSYS HFSS, should be available
  • English at least at negotiation level
  • Knowledge of German is an advantage
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to quality
